Super Villain Monday: What Dreams May Come-The Corinthian

Welcome to the first October Super Villain Monday.  Mondays are always dedicated to the exploration of fictional evil guys.  October is special.  I don't want to cheat you guys and just give you ordinary run of the mill bad guys.  I want to explore the really evil guys.  The monsters among the men.  I want to talk about the supernatural beings that commit evil acts for no other reason than to cause chaos or sadness, or to fulfill a deep seated need.

Comics are filled with Demons, Murderers, and Monsters.  The Joker is one of the most fearful psychopaths in all of comics.  But in some circles, the Joker is the Diet Coke of evil.  There are characters more frightening and with more depraved ways of killing their victims.

Today I present the worst evil (in my opinion) ever to leave the mind of a writer in the graphic medium.  The Renegade Nightmare himself.  Ladies and Gentleman, may I present the idol of serial killers across the globe...The Corinthian.

The Corinthian is a fictional character in Neil Gaiman's comic book series The Sandman. He can first be seen in The Sandman #10 (October 1989), which is part of the second story arc,The Doll's House. The Corinthian is a nightmare created by Dream, who destroys him in the same collection for going rogue and failing to fulfill his original design. Dream later recreates him with "some changes", though the exact nature of these changes is not explicit. His most notable physical feature is his lack of eyes: in their place, two rows of small, jagged teeth line each eye socket, which he often covers with sunglasses. He can speak, eat, see, and even respire through these mouths.

Come back tomorrow when we will explore the Mysterious night life of the strangest hero of the 1940's. Wesley Dodds: The Sandman
