The sexiest woman on television

I'm gonna tell you this up top.  There has been many debates about this in every bar, in every town across the American country side.  My opinion (worthless as it is) will not be swayed or changed by the huddled masses.

People will cite Barbara Eden, or Farrah Fawcett, or any of the other Chálie's Angels crew.  Some men will call upon Alyssa Milana or Tawny Kitaen.  They will drink their heavy domestic beers and debate endlessly over Ginger and Maryann.  Some will even get close to the truth and speak in appreciative tones of the attributes of Loni Anderson.  

They are all wrong!!!

The sexiest woman who ever appeared on a television series is Jan Smithers.

You are all wondering who I am talking about.  I am speaking of the underrated actress and second wife of James Brolin, who brought to life one of the most groundbreaking characters ever to appear in a sitcom.

While Loni Anderson was proving that blonde and sexy did not mean stupid.  Jan Smithers as Bailey Quarters wa proving that smart could be sexy, and that boys should start making passes to girls who wear glasses.

As Bailey Quarters, Smithers portrayed a socially conscious, idealistic journalist.  She fought for equal rights, the environment, and preserving America's national treasures,and she looked good doing it.

So much so that barflies stopped arguing about Gilligan's Island and started comparing the woman of WKRP.
